Aviara has some of the most expensive properties in the nation. This Carlsbad, California gated resort was the only one in the county of San Diego that was not affected by the 2008 housing crisis.
Aviara is located in the southern region of the city and is about 25 minutes from San Diego’s downtown. It is just west of La Costa and north of Encinitas. This is a residential area except for the local country club and the Park Hyatt Resort. Residents enjoy spectacular views of the ocean and the Batiquitos Lagoon which is a coastal wetland, home to many local insects, birds, mammals, fish, and plants.
The community council of Aviara enforces strict codes to protect the quality of life here. Ordinances covering dead lawns, exterior paint colors, permanent basketball hoops, and home designs are common. Mirabella is the only neighborhood that allows multi-family housing.
This community is served by the Carlsbad Unified School District which provides highly rated facilities like Aviara Oaks Elementary, Aviara Oaks Middle School, and Carlsbad High School. There are several private schools like Halstrom Academy, Sanderling Waldorf School, and St. Patrick’s Catholic School. There are also higher learning facilities nearby such as MiraCosta College and Palomar College.
There are many shopping centers like Carlsbad Premium Outlets, Village Faire, and The Shoppes at Carlsbad. The Aviara Golf Club is considered to have one of the best resort courses in the nation.
Carlsbad is known as “The Village by the Sea” and is popular with tourists. This upscale resort community is located along a seven mile stretch of coastline. It is 35 miles from San Diego’s downtown district and 87 miles from Los Angeles. Attractions include Legoland California Resort, Sea Life Aquarium, South Carlsbad State Beach campgrounds, and the Museum of Making Noise.
